Lumera is happy to announce that Handelsbanken Liv has been awarded the 2024 Lumera Trophy of the year for the HPF2 project.
The project involved the successful migration of a vast majority of insurance policies from three separate legacy systems into Lumera’s unified platform. With its effective execution and significant strategic impact, the HPF2 project strengthens Handelsbanken Liv’s operational capabilities and sets a new benchmark for the industry—making it a deserving winner of the 2024 Lumera Trophy of the Year.
Motivation of the jury
Handelsbanken Liv is awarded the Lumera Trophy of the Year 2024 for its ambitious and successful HPF2 project – a transformation that not only modernises a complex IT landscape, but also creates tangible customer value and strengthens the company’s competitiveness in a dynamic pension market with diverse customer needs.
The project is defined by a business-driven and carefully considered approach. Within a short time frame, Handelsbanken Liv has migrated more than half of its portfolio – approximately 700,000 insurance policies and SEK 60 billion in assets under management – from multiple legacy systems to a unified, modern platform at Lumera. Achieving this with minimal disruption, while maintaining customer focus and internal efficiency, is a remarkable accomplishment worthy of recognition.
What stands out is the project's ability to deliver immediate customer benefits through enhanced digital functionality – noticed and appreciated by clients – as well as self-service capabilities and a fully digitalised life-case process. At the same time, it lays the foundation for a more scalable and agile business. The new IT infrastructure also provides a clear uplift for existing customers through improved stability, faster service, and a more integrated offering.
This combination of digital strength and local presence positions Handelsbanken Liv strongly to meet customers’ varied needs – both in everyday matters and during more complex, emotionally significant life decisions.
HPF2 is not just a system modernisation; it is a strategic leap that enables the long-term delivery of affordable, transparent and sustainable pension solutions in service of the customer. With a clear holistic perspective and professional courage, Handelsbanken Liv demonstrates how modernisation can become more than an internal effort – transforming into a key enabler for customer value.
The jury consisted of Staffan Hansén, Helena Palmgren, and Per-Erik Gullnäs.
